Tim Hortons mum on possible Oakville HQ move

(Toronto Star)

Speculation that Tim Hortons might be moving their headquarters out of Oakville was met with what amounted to a ‘no comment’ from the coffee giant Tuesday, who stopped short of denying that it might be in the works.

The Wyecroft Road offices have grown to several buildings and CBC reported that Tims might be seeking to consolidate.

Spokesperson Hailey DeDominicis would not confirm or deny the rumours, telling YourMississaugaBiz.com they “don’t have any information to offer at this time, as we don’t discuss rumours.”

Although Tim Hortons is staying mum on the subject, some are speculating on the business implications for the City of Oakville.

Tim Hortons’ corporate head office employs more than 700 employees in operations, research and development, training, real estate, finance, personnel, IT, legal, purchasing, marketing, public relations and sustainable design.

The two Tim Hortons EV charging locations in Oakville, one at the company’s head office and another at its restaurant on Sinclair Road, were so successful the project was eventually expanded to B.C. in May.

The 73,000 square feet of space used by the company includes Tim Hortons University, where new franchisees undergo a seven-week training program; and the Innovation Centre, where hundreds of potential new products are developed, tasted and tested.

Earlier this year Tim Hortons laid off approximately 100 employees at their head office.

The company has more than 3,300 restaurants in Canada, and over 750 in the United States. It is one of the largest publicly-traded restaurants in Canada.
