The Ramada Plaza Toronto Airport Hotel and StageWest Theatre Restaurant on Dixie Road are hoping to cash in on some of the Grey Cup hoopla. The Mississauga based hospitality businesses are going to show off some recent renovations by holding a huge party this Saturday to celebrate the 100th edition of the championship game of the Canadian Football League.
The first of two Endzone Redzone Parties will take place this Saturday at the Mississauga hotel from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Five food trucks will be on site, including the city’s own Rome’n Chariot, which will be there dishing out their Italian comfort food.
The first 450 people at the open house event will receive free food and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Grey Cup. Starting at 12:30, Stage West’s signature theatre will also have free desserts and performances from tribute artists.
In addition to celebrating the Grey Cup, which is taking place in Toronto this weekend, the hotel hopes the event will draw visitors to look around its redesigned theatre, buffet and suites.
Stage West had been an independent for 26 years but earlier this year in July the management worked out a franchise agreement with Wyndham Hotel Group’s Ramada Worldwide. The result was a new name and two weeks of renovations in September.
It’s estimated the Grey Cup will add about $125 million to the economy in the GTA this year, up from the $80 million economic impact during the last time Toronto hosted the CFL event in 2007.
The 100th edition of the Grey Cup will be played between the Calgary Stampeders and the Toronto Argonauts at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 25.
