Major companies are considering bidding for the City of Mississauga’s new multi-million dollar contract to replace its information technology network and security infrastructure.
The city has recently put out a tender asking potential bidders to submit qualifications and interest for a planned request for proposals. Fifteen companies have already downloaded the necessary documents, including McAfee, Telus Communications and Bell Canada.
The deadline for pre-qualification documents is Nov. 22.
Conexsys Communications is one of three Mississauga companies that has obtained the tender documents and already has a relationship with the city. “We’ve been working with the city for some time now,” account manager and marketing manager Priscilla Petgrave told YourMississaugaBiz.com.
The head office of the IT solutions provider is on Millcreek Drive.
Anixter Canada, who has a Mississauga office on Foster Crescent, has also obtained the documents. They offer enterprise cabling solutions and wire and cable services.
Hewlett-Packard Canada, whose head office is on Spectrum Way, has also obtained the tender documents.
City purchasing assistant Angela DeChellis cautioned that many of the interested suppliers could be disqualified before the planned request for proposals. “Not everyone will meet what we’re looking for,” she said.
Senior city buyer Rajesh Singh said the city is currently a Cisco shop and uses multiple suppliers, but the new tender would be one supplier providing all equipment, professional and technical services, onsite maintenance and support for a period of five to ten years.
On the Biddingo website, city staff strongly recommend interested vendors attend an on-site information session this Thursday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. in Committee Room A at City Hall.
